Mel Gibson is expecting his ninth child with his girlfriend of two years, 26-year-old Rosalind Ross.
Gibson's rep confirmed the pregnancy to People.
Gibson and Ross are both thrilled that she is expecting, according to an unnamed friend close to the couple. “Mel loves being a dad and he and Rose can’t wait to be parents together,” the friend tells People. “The last two years have been some of his happiest.”
Gibson, 60, has seven children with ex-wife Robyn Moore and a 6-year-old daughter with former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva. His oldest child is a decade older than Ross. This will be her first child.
Gibson’s children with Moore are all older, but he is very much a part of his young daughter Lucia’s life, says the Daily Mail, even though his relationship with her mother ended contentiously with accusations of verbal abuse on both sides.
Gibson won an Oscar for directing “Braveheart” and also directed the popular religious film “The Passion of the Christ.” His latest film, World War II drama “Hacksaw Ridge,” will be in theaters Nov. 4.
Ross is a writer and former equestrian vaulter. A People source said, "She has her own life, but also seems to enjoy Mel’s. ... They are very much on the same page."
Gibson and Ross only went public as a couple at the Golden Globe Awards in January after they were spotted leaving an after-party holding hands, but have been dating for about two years.
