Mel Gibson’s ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva has filed for bankruptcy, claiming more than $400,000 in debt and only $10 in her pocket.
Quoting legal documents in the filing,
TMZ said Grigorieva claimed $48,000 in assets and $438,000 in debts, most of which she said are money she owes for legal bills when she and Gibson went head to head in court over custody of their 4-year-old daughter, Lucia.

During that court battle, TMZ said, Grigorieva “hired and fired more than 40 lawyers.” In the end, Gibson paid her $750,000 as a settlement, to be paid in installments through 2016, and also $20,000 every month for child support. TMZ said Grigorieva refused a settlement for $15 million from Gibson.
In addition to the big monthly bucks from Gibson,
People magazine said Grigorieva gets $2,500 a month from actor Timothy Dalton, with whom she has a son, Alexander.
People also reported that part of the former singer’s agreement with Gibson was that she stay in one of Gibson’s homes until Lucia turned 18.
The online reaction to Grigorieva’s bankruptcy filing was predictable.
“Yeah....I can see how $20,000 a month would put a real strain on somebody (insert sarcastic eye roll here),” onecopsgirl wrote on the People article.
“She is what is wrong with the world. First of all how does one go through that much money when housing is already paid for,” Mimi questioned in a post.
“Get a real job!!!!! I hear the minimum wage might be going up real soon!!!!!” a TMZ commenter advised.
Grigorieva, 43, and Gibson split up in 2010, and at that time Gibson was accused of physically assaulting her. In a court document, Gibson admitted to slapping her once in what he claimed was an effort to calm her down while she was acting hysterically and holding Lucia. Grigorieva claimed that he punched her in the face.
