Joan Rivers was omitted from the Oscars' annual "In Memoriam" video tribute, but her daughter, Melissa, isn't letting it get her down.
On Monday, Melissa took to the late comedian's
Facebook page to release a statement.
"It would have been nice, especially considering the impact she had on the awards season, but Cooper and I have been overwhelmed with support and love over my mom's passing and we choose to focus on that," she said, including her son and Joan's grandson in the overall sentiment.
Rivers was primarily a comedian and TV personality, however she did appear in many movies, including "Muppets Take Manhattan," "Serial Mom," "Iron Man 3," "Spaceballs," "The Smurfs," and her own documentary, "Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work."
Additionally, as Melissa alludes to in her note, Joan is widely credited with boosting the Academy Awards red carpet pre-show with her E! show "Fashion Police."
The Academy had previously responded to social media users and journalists who pointed out the snub on Monday.
"Joan Rivers is among the many worthy artists and filmmakers we were unfortunately unable to feature in the In Memoriam segment of this year's Oscar show. She is, however, included in our In Memoriam gallery on Oscar.com," it said in a statement.
Melissa Rivers recently filed suit against the Manhattan endoscopy clinic where her mother was last conscious before falling into a coma and dying.
