A Mercedes 380sl and a Ferrari 458 were involved in a parking accident Saturday near a car show in Great Falls, Virginia, that may be one of the most expensive fender-benders ever.
The driver of a red Mercedes appeared to have backed into and over the hood of a Ferrari, according to video taken at the scene. The Huffington Post wrote that a crowd quickly gathered around the costly parking accident that elevated the Mercedes onto the Ferrari 458 Speciale, which is typically valued around $300,000.
"Are you serious? Are you f******* serious?" one man said angrily while looking over the accident, which took place outside an optician's office.
"That's like the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen," the man said while the Mercedes' passengers got out of their vehicle with the female driver looking shaken, wrote The Huffington Post.
Car enthusiasts were in the area for the Katie's Cars & Coffee meetup at Katie's Coffee House in Great Falls, which attracts hundreds of exotic, antique, and classic vehicles weekly, according to its website.
No one appeared to be hurt in the poor attempt at parallel parking, noted The Guardian, but some continued to question how it happened in the first place.
"This was by no means a tight or difficult place to park, even without George Constanza's God-given parallel parking skills," wrote Brandon Turkus of Autoblog.com. "Even a semi-competent driver could have maneuvered a vehicle far larger than a 15-foot-long roadster between the two cars with room to spare."
Some on social media had some whimsical responses to the expensive parking accident.
