Talk radio host Michael Savage and audio network Westwood One announced Monday plans to launch an innovative one-hour version of "The Savage Nation" radio show and a new original podcast in January.
Savage currently releases on-demand versions of his radio show, but this will be his first original podcast. "The Savage Nation" podcast will also be available for radio broadcast, and the partnership hopes to fuel the audience for both shows by combining the podcast and broadcast.
“As I move into the next phase of my 25-year radio career I hope to bring even more listeners to the medium of audio with The Savage Nation,” Savage said in a statement. “I will be free to innovate in unique ways on my podcast. The flexibility of the platform will permit me to expand my story-telling and insights into politics, books, food, cars, and rock and roll. I'm going to change the way talk radio is spoken and consumed.”
"The Savage Nation" is syndicated in more than 300 markets, reaching 10 million listeners a week.
Suzanne Grimes, executive vice president, marketing for Cumulus Media and president, Westwood One, said Savage's on-demand audience is "massive."
"He has fans from all over the world and from different walks of life who will flock to his versatile new shows," Grimes said in the statement.
Starting in January, the podcast will be found at michaelsavage.com, Apple Podcasts, Google Play, WestwoodOnePodcasts.com, and the Westwood One Podcasts App for iOS or Android.
