Michelle Obama believes that women voters who cast their ballot for President Donald Trump, “voted against their own voice,” Boston.com reported.
The former first lady addressed various topics in a question-and-answer with author Roxanne Gay while speaking at INBOUND, a marketing conference in Boston on Wednesday. When discussing the various challenges of discrimination that women face, Obama told the audience:
“Any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against their own voice.”
Calling herself the “former first spouse,” Obama went on to say that both she and her husband, former President Barack Obama, support Trump and wish for his success in office, noted Boston.com, the news website of The Boston Globe.
“We want him to be successful. He was elected,” she said.
When asked for her opinion on critics of the Affordable Care Act, Obama took a firm stance:
“The Affordable Care Act isn’t Barack’s legacy. It’s the country’s legacy.”
Obama also spoke of her forthcoming book, which she says will include stories of her childhood and is about helping others to believe in their “most authentic selves.”
Speaking of life as the first lady, Obama said it taught her that she can do anything. She confessed that life is a lot less stressful now that they are out of the Presidency.
Obama offered inspirational words of wisdom to the audience throughout her talk.
Calling her daughters, Malia and Sasha, “typical teenagers,” Obama laughingly described their nonchalance at the White House celebrity experience.
“‘Do you want to come down and meet Paul McCartney?’ ‘No Ma, no!’”
Obama ended the Q&A on a light note, revealing that Beyonce’s “Love Drought” is a song she plays “over and over.”
