Social media was buzzing with friendly banter when Mick Mulvaney and Trey Gowdy ribbed each other on Twitter.
The Twitter war began on Tuesday after Office of Management and Budget Director Mulvaney shared a post featuring images of the South Carolina Republican Rep. Gowdy’s various hairstyles, captioning it "What do you get for someone on his 60th birthday? A razor and a comb. Happy birthday, @TGowdySC."
This sparked a response from Gowdy, who actually turned 53 on Tuesday, according to CNN.
"I'm just a couple of haircuts away from equaling the number of staff departures by your WH colleagues. I get it. You are hard to work with," he fired back on Twitter.
The retort was in reference to the recent West Wing exits of various senior members of staff that included Donald Trump’s aides Reince Priebus and Steve Bannon, according to Politico.
Determined to have the last say, Mulvaney replied to the tweet, saying "If I could defund your haircuts, I would."
However, it was Gowdy who made the final jab when he told the Washington Examiner "Mick won't even fund Meals on Wheels- He surely isn't going to pay for someone else's haircut."
