Former boxing champion Mike Tyson said he and actor Robin Williams used to share the same drug dealer.
Tyson made the claim in an interview on Howard Stern’s radio show on Wednesday.
Williams, who committed suicide in August, struggled with addiction since the 1980s.
"People that deal with this situation, we know each other," Tyson told Stern while talking about addiction and mental illness. He said he met the actor at a meeting.
Tyson said he was surprised to find out that he and Williams knew the same "lowlife dealer" and called Williams' suicide scary. "Listen, if you have a mental illness, you’re going to think about suicide. Suicide is our comfort," he said.
"I don’t know if he’s free. He really killed the wrong person," Tyson added. "It's all about killing the disease he possessed. It's not about killing yourself."
Tyson also likened drug addiction to starvation.
"Think of it like this. Think about you're starving, you're absolutely famished. And that drug — heroin, cocaine — that's food," he said.
Twitter users seemed troubled by interview.
