Alleged Craigslist killer Miranda Barbour is the way she is because of her mother, according to the Pennsylvania teen's sister.

Ashley Dean said Monday on an episode of "The Dr. Phil Show." "My mom has been a bad mom . . . I just want to make it clear that it's not my sister's fault. She's not this monster on her own. It's come from someone else."
Barbour, 19, and husband Elytte Barbour, 22, are awaiting trial for the alleged thrill killing of a Pennsylvania man officials say they
lured using a Craigslist ad for female companionship. The couple is accused of then stabbing and strangling Troy LaFerrara, 42, to death on Nov. 11, 2013, in the backseat of their car and dumping his body in a residential backyard in Sunbury, Pa.

Elytte Barbour reportedly told police he and his wife of three weeks just wanted to kill someone for the thrill of it, but things took an even darker turn when Miranda Barbour claimed to have joined a satanic cult at age 13 and took responsibility for "at least" 22
murders between 2008 and 2013, The Daily Item reported.
But Barbour's mother and sister say believe the teen killed LaFerrara but don’t think she ever murdered anyone else.
"My daughter is not a serial killer," mom Elizabeth Dean told McGraw during Monday's show segment. "I don't believe Miranda has killed more than one person because this one is so sloppy."
McGraw, who read Barbour's journals dating all the way back to 2010, also doesn’t buy the girl's budding serial killer story.
"Nowhere in there is there one word, one syllable, one even veiled reference to having killed anyone," he said. "It seems to me, given the candor of some of these entries, that would be an odd thing to leave out."
According to Barbour's sister Ashley Dean, the girls' mother neglected them and busied herself with a revolving door of men. Dean claims an uncle even sexually abused the sisters when Barbour was just 3 years old.
"You have to understand where Miranda's coming from," Dean said. "You have to understand what happened to her when she was younger."
