Missing Nursing Student Holly Bobo: Man Charged in Kidnapping, Murder

By    |   Thursday, 06 March 2014 08:35 AM EST

The case of missing nursing student Holly Bobo has haunted a Tennessee town for nearly three years now, but it's one step closer to being solved after a man was charged with the woman's kidnapping and murder this week.

Bobo was a 20-year-old nursing student at the University of Tennessee-Martin when she disappeared on April 13, 2011. She was last seen near her family home in Parsons, Tenn., being led into the woods by a man wearing camouflage clothing, according to NBC News.

Now, 29-year-old Zachary Rye Adams has been charged with "especially aggravated" kidnapping and first-degree felony murder after investigators searched his home on an unrelated assault case last week, The Associated Press reported.

Police would not specify what evidence was found at Adams' home to lead to his arrest or confirm whether Bobo's remains were discovered.

"We believe we can prove she was taken forcefully from her home without her consent," District Attorney General Hansel McCadams said at a news conference Wednesday. "Based on the evidence before us, we feel she was killed in perpetration of that kidnapping."

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation director Mark Gwyn said he has not yet ruled out that there may be other arrests in the case, according to the AP.
