Mitt Romney taunted Russell Westbrook during the Utah Jazz-Oklahoma City Thunder game Monday night, amusing some basketball fans and irritating others.
The former Massachusetts governor and Republican presidential candidate joined in on heckling Westbrook after he drew his fourth foul of the game, USA Today reported. Romney held up four fingers in Westbrook's direction and mouthed the work "four" after the Thunder point guard barreled past Utah's Ricky Rubio with 1:36 left in the second quarter.
The Jazz won the game 113-96, securing a 3-1 lead in the NBA playoff series. Romney was wearing a No. 5 Jazz jersey with his name on the back, which was a gift for supporting "5 For the Fight," a charity working with the Jazz to raise $50 million to donate to cancer research, CNN reported.
On Saturday, Romney lost his bid for the Republican nomination for the Utah Senate seat of Orrin G. Hatch, who is retiring, The New York Times reported.
While Romney's basketball trash talk drew attention on social media, a spokeswoman for the politician declined to comment, The Washington Post noted.
