Shootings in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, left at least four people dead early Monday morning as the suspected gunman barricaded himself inside a house in Souderton.
According to CNN, law enforcement initially said at least five had been killed, however that number was revised to at least four before noon.
The spree — which is suspected to have originated from a domestic dispute — began before 4 a.m. in Lower Salford Township. Police were called to the scene at the Pheasant Run Apartments on Main Street, where they found a woman shot to death.
"I heard three or four gunshots. I heard the kids saying 'Mommy no! Mommy no!'" a neighbor
told ABC affiliate WPVI. She then saw the man and the children exit the apartment and run toward a parked car.
"I opened the window and I asked him 'Is everything OK?' He just looked at me and said 'She's hurt pretty bad. We have to leave. She's hurt.' And he just got in the car and left," she said,
according to NBC News. The two children were apparently left behind.
Just before 4:30 a.m., police were called to West 5th Street in Lansdale, where they found two more shot dead.
Two others were also found shot to death in Souderton some time later, and police believed the suspect, rumored to be a military veteran, had barricaded himself inside a house.
"Bradley, this is the police. Come out now," police could be heard shouting into a megaphone at the standoff, reportedly referring to the suspect.
Around 11:45 a.m., a flash bang could be heard near the house as SWAT teams moved toward it.
A news conference is expected soon in the Lower Salford municipal building, police said.
