The most pirated movies in 2014 also proved to be some of the biggest box office hits, including "Frozen" and "The Wolf of Wall Street" which topped a list of 20 illegally stolen movies online.

Excipio, a piracy-tracking firm, put the list together from data compiled from illegal downloads from Jan. 1 to Dec. 23, according to Variety. "The Wolf of Wall Street," the Oscar-nominated movie, was downloaded 30.035 million times, topping the 2014 list, noted Variety.

The movie, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill in Academy Award-nominated performances, still managed to make $392 million in theaters, $116.9 million of that domestically, according to Box Office Mojo.

"Frozen," Disney's megahit from 2013, was illegally downloaded 29.919 million times, to come in second on Excipio's 2014 list. That didn't stop the movie from becoming the biggest animated hit of all-time with theater receipts of $1.27 trillion, $400 million of that domestically, noted Box Office Mojo.

Excipio listed "RoboCop" third on its list (29.879 million), combining downloaders who snatched the reboot version released Feb. 12 along with the original 1987 movie, which was also downloaded this year, according to Variety.

Warner Bros. had the most movies listed in the top 20 of pirated motion pictures with five, including "Gravity" at No. 4 (29.357 million); "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" at No. 5 (27.627 million); "300: Rise of an Empire" at No. 13 (23.096 million); "Godzilla" at No. 15 (20.956 million); and "Edge of Tomorrow" at No. 18 (20.299 million).

Paramount followed with three movies on the list – "The Wolf of Wall Street," "Transformers: Age of Extinction" (21.65 million) at No. 14 and "Noah" (20.334 million) at No. 16. Disney, when combined with its Marvel entries, had three movies make the list as well with "Frozen," "Thor: The Dark Word" at No. 6 (25.749 million) and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" at No. 7 (25.628 million).

Other movies to make the top 10 most pirated motion pictures included "The Legend of Hercules" at No. 8 (25.137 million); "X-Men: Days of Future Past" at No. 9 (24.38 million) and "12 Years a Slave" at No. 10 (23.653 million).
