Mötley Crüe will be retiring after the band's 72-date tour, which starts July 2 in Grand Rapids, Mich., and runs through Nov. 21 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The heavy metal rock band, comprised of Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and Mick Mars, made the announcement Tuesday Morning in Hollywood at a press conference that featured tombstones with their names and RIP written on them, along with a banner that read, "All bad things must come to an end,"
the Los Angeles Times reported.

"We’ve talked about this for years," bassist Nikki Sixx said Tuesday at the Hollywood Roosevelt hotel. "It’s because we are on top, holding it together. We wanted to leave a legacy (and) we feel there are a lot of bands that don’t have dignity. We want to call it a day and be proud."
"We don’t want to be one of those bands where one guy is left," added singer Vince Neil. "We wanted to go out with the four founding members and go out on top."
To demonstrate their commitment to retirement, Mötley Crüe signed a legally-binding "cessation of touring" contract apart from the press conference, effectively ending their 33 years together on stage by the end of 2014.
While their touring days are over, their projects are not.
The band's last album, which will be a country music tribute featuring the likes of LeAnn Rimes, Brantley Gilbert and Cassadee Pope, is still in the works, while a film based on their bestselling autobiography, "The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band," is set to hit theatres in 2015.
One of the bestselling rock groups of all time having sold more than 75 million albums worldwide, Mötley Crüe was formed in Los Angeles, Calif. in 1980 and is known for songs like "Dr. Feelgood" and "Girls, Girls, Girls," among many others.
