"Music for Cats," an album that includes “feline-centric sounds” like “bird-chirping…and purring to appeal specifically to your favorite furry friends” will be released next month by one of the world's biggest record labels.
Cat lovers around the world are familiar with websites dedicated to music cats would love, but David Teie, a classical cellist and composer, is taking things a step further with the album containing sounds and riffs meant to soothe distressed cats, reported Techly.
“Not of cats. Or featuring cats. For cats,” said Quartz in an attempt to make it clear the new album was created solely with cats in mind.
Universal Music, one of the three biggest record labels in the world, will be releasing the album worldwide on Oct 28, said Quartz, and it will be the first official project from a major music label that wasn’t created with the "human consumer" in mind.
A Universal spokesperson told the Guardian that “to the label, animals are a huge untapped market, and if Teie’s album is successful, music for dogs and horses could be next.”
“If you really look into it, what’s silly is the idea that only one species could have music available for it,” said Teie.
