A naked man snarled up traffic on Tuesday morning by sitting on top of his car on a Connecticut interstate highway as rubberneckers jammed the rush-hour traffic.
The man, who remains unidentified, was seen sitting cross-legged on top of the driver’s side roof of his car simply letting it
all hang loose, according to the New York Daily News. The car was parked on Interstate 95’s shoulder, and as the man sat there, he wiped his hands across his face in footage captured by commuters armed with cell phone cameras.
Police responded to a call for medical assistance and brought the nude man to a local hospital for
evaluation and further treatment, according to the Daily Mail. After receiving medical attention, the man is not facing any charges. Although the officers blocked off two exits for a short period of time as they took the man into custody, commuters could still snake by on the right shoulder, and all lanes reopened after he was removed.
Tuesday happened to be National Nude Day, and many people speculated that that may have influenced the man’s reasoning for his very public
debut of his birthday suit, according to the Inquisitr. Others, however, wondered if the man suffered from any mental or physical health problems that might have led to his highly unusual behavior.
“I can write a book on all the reasons NOT to live
[in Connecticut],” wrote one commenter on NBC’s article covering the story. “Yes, there are some nice places to see and yes there are some great places to eat and there are loads of nice people that live there. You are missing MY point though. The water and air are both very polluted there. It is one of the places that has highest rate of cancer in the Country. Top 5 highest drug and alcohol abuse States, top 3 highest tax States, top 5 divorce rates, drunk driving, suicide and bankruptcy State. I can go on. THIS is why I don't doubt seeing this guy stressed out on his car, nude in traffic. He can't take it anymore!”
Another wrote, “Clearly the man is in distress. Kind of reflective of the sad state of mental health care accessibility, or lack thereof.”
