President Donald Trump's first 100 days in the White House has Nancy Pelosi "praying" George Bush was president again. Well, sort of.
House Minority Leader Pelosi appeared on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday, and made the mistake of referring to Trump as Bush while talking about the job he's doing as president thus far, according to Breitbart.
"And winning means winning for the American people. That either we win or whoever wins understands the priorities of the American people," she said. "And they are not what President Bush – excuse me. I'm sorry, President Bush. I never thought I would pray for the day that you were president again."
Host Jonathan Karl reiterated the comparison, and Pelosi added that she would like to work with Trump similarly to how she and others worked with Bush when he was in office.
"We got a great deal accomplished," she said about working with Bush. "We opposed the war in Iraq ... we opposed him on his privatization of social security. But we worked with him on many other issues ... biggest energy bill in the history of our country. A tax bill that helped low income working families."
Pelosi's remarks came after Karl asked her about working with Trump, implying that she appears to be opposing his policy proposals – something she denied.
Instead, Pelosi's argument is that Trump has yet to do anything of real significance, saying the only thing he's actually proposed is a health care bill and another measure, which only had a 17 percent support rating.
Pelosi said the House is waiting for Trump's infrastructure bill, which they would welcome with open arms.
She's also waiting for Trump to come through on some of the other promises he made during his presidential campaign regarding things like "work and home balance" and "childcare."
Pelosi also brought up a "tax reform for fairness and transparency," another thing she feels the president has failed to deliver on thus far.
She says Trump is simply putting together a "wish list for billionaires" and trying to take advantage of opportunities that would benefit people like himself.
Trump reached his 100-day mark over the weekend.
He held a campaign-style rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to celebrate the occasion, noted NBC News.
The rally came amid the White House Correspondents' Association dinner, which Trump never really planned on attending.
"As you know there's another big gathering taking place tonight in Washington D.C., did you hear about this? A large group of Hollywood actors and Washington media are consoling each other in a hotel ballroom in our nation's capital right now," he said. "They are gathered together for the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Without the president."
If it is indeed true that the president is off to a bad start in the White House, perhaps it's the media that is causing the problem – at least that's what Trump seems to think, saying at the rally that they've earned a "very, very big fat failing grade."
"The Washington media is part of the problem," Trump said. "Their priorities are not my priorities, and they're not your priorities, believe me."
