Nancy Pelosi continues to prove her staying power amid unrest within the Democratic Party, The Washington Post noted in an article focusing on her role in campaigning for the 2018 midterm elections.
The House minority leader offered hope to campaign donors during a private gathering held at the Las Vegas Four Seasons Hotel, the Post noted.
"Any time a president in office is below 50 percent in recent history, his party has lost the Congress in the next election," she said.
The pep talk was held during a seven-city, eight-day tour during which the San Francisco Democrat demonstrated that the 2018 midterm campaign was in full swing.
"We have a plan and a vision to unify," the 77-year-old told the small crowd, according to The Washington Post.
Pelosi has spent three decades in Congress and served as the face of House Democrats since 2007, when she helped the party regain control of the House, CNN noted in June.
While some have called for her to step down, the veteran congresswoman has not shied away from public attention, instead regaining control and setting herself up as a leading figure against the Trump campaign.
"The minute you do better, they will come after you, and that's why they come after me," she said to The Washington Post.
President Donald Trump weighed in on Pelosi's role in a Tweet in June.
She said it was necessary for her to remain in a leadership role following Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential election loss.
"I am a master legislator, I just love it," said Pelosi, according to The Hill. "I consider myself a weaver, like I have a loom. And I bring all these different threads together."
The minority leader is considered a prominent fundraiser for the Democratic Party and believes she is ready to lead the party into the 2018 midterm elections.
Her aim?
To keep Democrats' attention zeroed in on an economic message of "better jobs, better wages, better future" heading into 2018, The Hill reported.
