Nanny Caught on Camera Abusing Infant, Then Fights With Cops

By    |   Thursday, 07 February 2013 11:54 AM EST

A New York City babysitter was arrested by police Sunday after she was reportedly caught on a nanny cam repeatedly slapping and shaking a 5-month-old infant. A graphic video depicting the abuse was released by the baby's mother on Wednesday and went viral.

The video shows a woman identified by police as Mamura Nasirova, 52, attempting to give the baby girl a bottle of milk.

After the infant refuses to drink from the bottle, the woman appears to slap the child in the face multiple times, causing the child's head to jerk back and forth with each blow.

In the video, the sitter then shakes the baby in her chair, before attempting to feed the child again. When the baby rejects the milk a second time, the sitter appears to punch the baby in the face and slap her thighs before shaking her again and hastily removing her from the chair.

The child's mother, who was not identified by police, installed the camera after suspecting her child was being abused. After witnessing the footage on her iPad, she confronted the nanny and then called the police.

When police arrived at the Staten Island home, they said Nasirova attempted to fight off them as they put her in handcuffs.

On Wednesday, the mother of the child uploaded the video of the abusive episode on the website Russianparentsworld.com where parents of Russian descent in the city share information about parenting, vendors and family services.

In a post entitled "Nanny Blacklist," the unidentified mother further explained the scenario to other parents.

"My 17-month-old son was very scared of her for no reason, and I was home full time and didn’t see anything wrong until one day when I took my doughter (sic) to dance class. While there, [I] decided to watch the cameras from the ipad.

"When we showed her [the] video, she did not show any emotion at all and simply said 'But I love her' . . . She is a monster, liar, animal. I don’t think there is any words to describe her!!! What kind a person would be hitting like that a 5-month-old child!!!"

Nasirova has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and child endangerment and is currently being held on a $1000 cash bail.
