CBS's highly-rated "NCIS" began its farewell to Ziva, its popular character played by Cote de Pablo, with the series premiere of its 11th season on Tuesday.
The second episode of the series is scheduled to be Ziva David’s final episode, which will feature Tony, played by Michael Weatherly, traveling to Israel to locate her.

"We’ve had a lot of changes," Mark Harmon, the show's star, said on "The Arsenio Hall show" Sept. 12, discussing the show's progress over the past decade. "We’ve managed to get better with the changes both in front of the camera and behind the camera."
De Pablo already spilled the beans to the Los Angeles Times that her character won't die, but the ending will be satisfying for longtime fans of the show.
"The greatest thing about this last episode is that Ziva doesn't die," she said. "As long as a character doesn't die, the character can always come back. Not that it would actually matter, because we bring back characters from the dead all the time on 'NCIS.'"
De Pablo, 33, has played the Ziva David character since 2005.
Fans have expressed disappointment with de Pablo's departure. De Pablo and CBS have both said it was actress' decision to leave.
"As far as my decision to leave, that's a personal thing, and I'd rather leave it at that,"
she told TV Guide. "The idea of leaving was not something I toyed around with for a long time. It was an overwhelmingly hard thing — at times terrifying."
"On a September day in New York, I'm looking out my balcony, and I still miss my family," De Pablo said, in regard to not being in Los Angeles on the "NCIS" set. "But they're with me all the time, every day, and that won't change."
