Preorders for the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus began Friday at 12:01 a.m. PT, and consumers will begin receiving their devices in one week, September 19.
According to Mashable, Apple's online store was plagued with technical difficulties and remained offline roughly three hours into its scheduled launch, but more savvy superfans were able to use the Apple Store iPhone app to order in the middle of the night.

Authorized brick and mortar resellers like Walmart and Sam's Club — both of which were offering a small discount on the phones — also opened their doors on Friday to eager fans waiting to make their order.
The iPhone 6, which features a 4.7-inch screen, generally starts at $199 for the 16GB model with a two-year carrier contract. The iPhone 6 Plus, which features a 5.5-inch screen, starts at $299 for the 16GB model. Most major carriers are offering customers the ability to finance their phone in monthly installments for one to two years.
The Apple Watch, announced alongside the new iPhones on Tuesday, will not be available until early 2015.
Apple Pay, the company's new digital credit card payment system that uses a person's fingerprint for security, will launch in October.
Online storefronts, including the Apple site itself, seemed to be reporting longer shipping times for the iPhone 6 Plus, as well as the gold version of both iPhones. In addition to gold, the phones also come in silver and space gray.
