New Black Panther Party Pushes Boycott of Non-Black Businesses

Tuesday, 19 April 2011 04:40 PM EDT

The New Black Panther Party plans nationwide rallies and a boycott of non-black businesses this weekend. The National and International Day of Action & Unity includes plans for “rallies, marches, demonstrations, programs, and confrontations” in more than 60 cities.

“As in other revolutions, protests and uprisings going on around the earth, a showdown is looming.” reads the group’s website, which compares its planned New York City demonstrations with those in Egypt’s Tahrir Square during the recent uprising.

The site, which urges participants to patronize only black-owned businesses during the weekend, says members will be “taking vigilantly to the streets, police stations, projects, courthouses, State Capitols, houses of racists, morgues, jails and anywhere our people can be found.”
