Actress Nicole Kidman says she often gets "teased" by close friends for her strong faith in God, but she is proud of her choices and sharing it with her family. The 51-year-old actress is married to country singer Keith Urban and they share two daughters – 10-year-old Sunday Rose and eight-year-old Faith Margaret – Fox News noted.
The close-knit family make it a point to attend church together even though it means raised eyebrows from friends and family, who do not understand or share her faith.
"A lot of my friends tease me," Kidman told Vanity Fair, but she is not letting that change how she is bringing up her children. "That's how we are raising our children. Keith has his own beliefs but he comes, too.
"I was raised praying."
Kidman said her grandmother, who was a devout Catholic, helped cultivate her strong faith in God. Despite this, she encouraged her children to approach religion with an enquiring mind.
"I wouldn't say it's absolutism, there's constant questioning," she said. "For me, it's very important that I don't have judgment. My dad would always say, 'Tolerance is the most important thing.'"
Kidman has always been vocal about her faith and has spoken openly about it in the past. She previously admitted to entertaining the thought of being a nun in an interview with Allure.
"I loved the idea of being a nun. Obviously, I did not choose to go that path, but I was very drawn to it," she said. "I'm spiritual in the sense that I absolutely believe in God," she added.
