Former Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger is reportedly in talks with Sony Records for a $4.5 million recording deal that could lead to a new release by the summer.

Scherzinger's last solo effort came in 2011 with "Killer Love."

"Nicole was the most popular member of the 'X Factor' panel this year and is the real winner in terms of bankability," a source told the U.K.'s Sun about Scherzinger, who served as a mentor on England's version of the show. "She is set to sign with Sony and can't wait to get back to her music which took a back seat during 'X Factor.'"

Lately, Scherzinger, 35, who led the Pussycat Dolls from 2003 to 2010, has made more headlines for her on-and-off relationship with Formula One race car driver Lewis Hamilton, 28. Most believed that the relationship was off until both posted photos from what appeared to be the same location on Thursday.

Scherzinger posted a snowmobile photo on Instagram with the note: "What better way to kick off 2014 in God's Country! Praying and snow mobiling! #Everything! #Glorious!"

Hamilton followed with a similar-looking photo on Twitter shortly afterward.

The Mirror reported in August that the couple met at Scherzinger's Beverly Hills mansion to see if they could rekindle the relationship after they broke up the month before.

A source close to Hamilton told the Mirror that he jumped at the chance to see if their relationship could continue then.

"Both Nicole and Lewis had a bit of time off so it was the perfect time to meet," Hamilton's source told the Mirror. "After the split he was devastated so when he suggested that he fly out to see Nicole, he was delighted she said yes. He went to her house in Los Angeles to talk things through and both thought it was a great success.

"It was the last opportunity when they could spend time together and talk through their future. They desperately want to be together but they know that from now until Christmas is going to be really tough," the source continued.
