A spooky clown who stands on street corners, staring, is scaring some residents of Northampton, England,
the Northampton News reported.
But the unidentified clown has gathered thousands of likes on his Facebook page, titled "Spot Northampton's Clown." More than 44,000 people have liked the page since the clown first appeared on Friday the 13th.

Facebook page, titled “Spot Northampton’s Clown,” has over 44,000 likes, and that’s just since he first appeared on Friday the 13th.
People can upload pictures of the mysterious and odd clown to the page, but the clown himself also takes to the page to stand up for himself.
“Too much hate not enough love,” he wrote in a recent post. “No, i don't have a knife on me!, thats just stupid rumours spread by stupid people. I'm also 'not' on twitter as it confuses the heck out of me. However, i might go for a jog around that pond in Abington park later as i'm really unfit... See you around! Beep Beep!”
The clown, whose random appearances, sometimes carrying a teddy bear, has
generally received a negative reaction, The Independent said.
Coulrophobia is an irrational fear of clowns, and a university study found that 250 kids ages 4 to 16 disliked pictures of clowns. Researchers said clowns were generally disliked by kids, who often found them “frightening and unknowable,” the Independent said.
The Northampton clown, dressed in a typical clown outfit, if there is such a thing, has a white face and frizzy red hair that sticks out from the side of his head.
Some online find the clown entertaining and don’t understand why everyone is so upset.
Jay Gould posted on Facebook, “Poor clown just trying to liven up Northampton and people threatening to hurt him. Be safe Ronald McDonald!”
Daryl Connolly posted, “What is wrong with some of you people, saying you would run him over or mob him ... all the guy wants is to be spotted and make you smile and frankly I think Northampton needs abit of brightening up such a glum and miserable place at the best of times.”
