President Barack Obama made a joke about crack cocaine at an LGBT fete on Monday, saying the pies made by the White House pastry chef are so good there must be "crack in them." Foodie first lady Michelle Obama had to correct him.
The president made the comment while speaking to a crowd gathered to celebrate LGBT Pride Month,
USA Today reported. Obama used the occasion to congratulate the pastry chef, Bill Yosses, who was in attendance with his husband, and who recently announced his departure from the White House to start a new food literacy project for youth and adults.
"We call Bill the 'Crustmaster,' because his pies, I don't know what he does, whether he puts crack in them," he said, prompting laughter from the crowd.

Standing next to her husband on stage, Michelle Obama slowly shook her head in mock disapproval, reassuring the crowd, "No he doesn't. There is no crack in our pies."
He then launched into a story about his arrival at the White House, saying the desserts prepared by Yosses surely contributed to a dip in his health metrics.
"My cholesterol shot up," he said. "And the doctor was like, what happened? . . . And I thought, it's the pie! It's the pie! So we had to establish like a really firm rule about no pie during the week."
The president concluded by saying Yosses "made life at the White House very sweet," and thanked him for his seven years of service.
According to The Hill, Yosses was rumored to have quit his post after getting in a dispute with the First Lady about his use of sugar, butter, and other unhealthy ingredients in the pastries. He later clarified, however, denying there was any dispute.
"We work together on improving — making desserts more delicious, and more healthy. We're partners on that project . . . You can make great pastries with butter and sugar — or without them," he said at the time.
