Obama: Michael Jordan Should Focus on Hornets Rather Than My Golf Game

By    |   Wednesday, 05 November 2014 07:11 PM EST

President Obama, who apparently got the news that Michael Jordan called him a "hack" golfer last week, has fired back at the ex-NBA star.

“Michael wasn’t very well-informed about this,” Obama said during a radio interview with Earl Stokes on WJMR. “There is no doubt that Michael is a better golfer than I am. Of course if I was playing twice a day for the last 15 years, then that might not be the case. He might want to spend more time thinking about the Bobcats, or maybe the Hornets, but that’s a whole other issue.”

Jordan assumed majority control of the Charlotte Bobcats in 2012. The team, now the Charlotte Hornets, had a combined record of 62-168 during the first three full seasons under Jordan’s control and set the NBA record for worst winning percentage in the 2011-12 season.

Obama’s jab was in response to comments Jordan made during an interview with sportscaster Ahmad Rashad of Back 9 Network where Jordan said he wouldn’t include the president in a dream golf team.

"He's a hack. Man, it would be all day playing with him," Jordan said during the interview before clarifying, "I never said he wasn't a great politician, I'm just saying he's a sh—y golfer."

Twitter users responded to the volley.
