The Obamas welcomed a new member of the family this week — a new puppy named Sunny.
Like the current First Dog of the United States, Bo, Sunny is a Portuguese Water Dog. She was born in Michigan in June 2012 and arrived at her new home Monday.
"Sunny is the perfect little sister for Bo — full of energy and very affectionate — and the First Family picked her name because it fit her cheerful personality,"
the White House said in a statement announcing the new puppy Monday.

Shortly after Obama took office in 2008, the family was rumored to be looking at Portuguese Water Dogs because they are one of the few hypoallergenic breeds, and Malia Obama suffers from allergies. Bo was a present from Senator Ted Kennedy in April 2009.
"We suspect Sunny will follow in Bo's footsteps and keep the President company in the Oval Office, go for walks with the First Family after their 6:30 family dinner, and even jump up on the First Lady's lap from time to time!" the White House statement said.
Sunny also got quite a warm welcome on Twitter.
