Obama 'Selfie Stick' Video for BuzzFeed Encourages Healthcare Signups

By    |   Thursday, 12 February 2015 06:56 PM EST

President Obama played along for a BuzzFeed video titled “Things Everyone Does But Doesn’t Talk About,” in which the commander in chief makes faces, uses a selfie stick and pretends to shoot a basketball.

The video, which is making the rounds on the Internet and has nearly 13 million views in its first day, was produced as a reminder of the Feb. 15 deadline for applying for insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

“In the past we’ve had a lot of success finding audiences in these sorts of channels to get them to send out to visit the website. So we believe that this won’t be any different,” White House spokesman Eric Schultz said, according to The Blaze.

The video appears concurrently with a BuzzFeed interview with the president.

"We took them the idea of doing both a BuzzFeed News interview and a BuzzFeed Motion Pictures video almost four months ago — we always intended to do both," a BuzzFeed spokesman told The Washington Post.

Twitter users had mixed reactions.
