Olivia Newton-John's former boyfriend who went missing off California 11 years ago was found in Mexico alive and now has a girlfriend from Germany, claims
Woman's Day magazine.
The magazine said its private investigator Philip Klein alleges that Patrick McDermott, who was in a relationship with Newton-John when he disappeared off a fishing boat out of San Pedro in 2005, is living and working in Sayulita, an isolated village in Mexico.
The Australian singer and "Grease" star moved on to marry John Easterling in 2008 but the Australian singer and actress "always wanted to know if her beloved Patrick is alive and happy," said Woman's Day.
According to the
Daily Mail, Newton-John reported McDermott missing and started a search off the California coast weeks after he went missing. There were no eye witnesses to McDermott going overboard.
Klein started to investigate McDermott's disappearance in 2009, appeared on the television news show "Dateline" about his findings and wrote a book "Lost at Sea: The Hunt for Patrick McDermott," noted the Daily Mail.
Klein said he received a faxed letter in 2009 from someone claiming to represent McDermott, which he determined to be authentic, asking him to end his investigation, said the Daily Mail.
"Pat has asked that I portray to you his innocence," the letter to Klein said, according to the Daily Mail. "Pat has committed no crime. Pat simply wishes to be left alone. Let him live his life in peace and harmony. He is safe and has started a new again in a new place both physically and mentally. Stop this search immediately."
Another McDermott investigator, John Nazarian, told Woman's Day that McDermott was rumored to be with a woman who was a German national.
Us Weekly reported that when he disappeared, McDermott owed ex-wife Yvette Nipar $8,000 in child support for their son Chance and other debts. His life insurance policy would have paid off $100,000 for his son, noted Us Weekly.
