Olivia Wilde has cut her hair to avoid lookalike locks with Melania Trump, according to a hashtag on her Instagram account.
“Feelin myself apparently,” Wilde posted Tuesday. “Thanks to the master @harryjoshhair for the chop. #NoMoreMelaniaHair.” The cut is a long bob that’s a few inches shorter than her previous hairstyle, with some highlights for fullness and contrast.
While some commenters loved the cut and highlights and her reason for changing the 'do: “Love it! Keep sticking up for what you believe it (sic)! We support you!! <3 <3,” wrote ginaamt.
Others, however, felt the actress put down the future first lady in her post. Some called Wilde a “fake feminist” and told her to “grow up.” Others said she was a “bully” for attacking Melania, and another encouraged her to “empower women” rather than insult the incoming first lady.
Other common threads in the comments were that Wilde showed a lack of class compared to Melania, and that she was a “liberal” or a “hypocrite.” A handful said they would not support Wilde's movies anymore.
"Celebrities should stick with celebrity," wrote egermack.
"If you don’t like Donald Trump, that’s fine," Laurenelisabeth said. "But it's really immature to hate his wife."
Several posters commented that Hollywood types "live in a bubble."
“First world problems,” posted victorria_p, putting things into a larger perspective. “There are families in Yemen who have to choose between which child they want to live or starve and here we are, days before Xmas, getting all mad over a hashtag.”
