Original T. Rex: 'Jurassic World' Features Cameo by 1993 Monster

The original T. Rex from 1993's "Jurassic Park" will make a cameo in the new "Jurassic World" movie opening this summer.

"The T. Rex in this movie is the same T. Rex from 'Jurassic Park,'" director and co-writer Colin Trevorrow told The Los Angeles Times. "She’s been on the island for 22 years. She’s still alive. She’s a little older, and she’s angry."

"We took the original design and obviously, technology has changed," he added in an interview with SlashFilm.com. "So, it’s going to move a little bit differently, but it’ll move differently because it’s older. And we’re giving her some scars, and we're tightening her skin."

"So she has that feeling of, like, an older Burt Lancaster. And this movie is her 'Unforgiven,'" Trevorrow joked.

The new movie will also feature a cast of new dinosaurs, of course, including an underwater dinosaur, a flying dinosaur, and an Ankylosaurus.

The movie is set on the original Isla Nublar, and centers on the fictional Jurassic World vacation destination. As attendance declines, the park owners decide to beef up the attraction by creating new, genetically engineered dinosaurs.

Among them is Indominus Rex, whose roar sounds like a jet engine.

The movie stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D'Onofrio, and Judy Greer, and opens June 12.
