The Patriots made NFL history after buying two planes to travel to games, becoming the first NFL team to buy jets.
One of the Boeing 767s will be used to transport the team during the season while the second would be used as a backup, ESPN reported.
The planes were fitted with first-class seats and feature the team logo on the outside body and five Vince Lombardi trophies on the tail.
On Tuesday the Patriots confirmed news of the plane purchases on social media by posting an image of what the Boeings would look like to Twitter.
ESPN estimated that these planes could cost between $5 million and $65 million, depending on mileage, with a new one costing up to $200 million.
While it seems as if The Patriots splashed out by buying two new planes, the move may have logic behind it.
Earlier this year it was reported that several airlines would drop charter flights, forcing various NFL teams to revise their travel schedules. Forbes noted that charter flights for six NFL teams had been suspended by American Airlines alone in April.
"After careful evaluation, we are reducing the number of charter operations for 2017 to ensure we have the right aircraft available for our passenger operation," American spokeswoman Lakeesha Brown said, according to Forbes.
Adding weight to the decision to purchase two planes, ESPN reported that the Patriots would be renting the Boeings out when they are not in use by the team.
