Paul Walker Sunglasses From Crash Scene Up for Auction by Bystander

By    |   Friday, 14 March 2014 11:12 AM EDT

Just months after "Fast & Furious" star Paul Walker died in a tragic car accident, a bystander has posted an online auction for items allegedly found at the crash site.

Among the items up for sale are Walker's sunglasses, a piece of debris from the crash, and a fire extinguisher said to be used in trying to save his life, according to TMZ.

As of this writing, the hosting auction site BidAMI.com, has not removed the auction. In fact, they've extended it, writing in a blog post that a portion of the proceeds will benefit SavingAmericasMustangs.org.

The seller claims to have come upon the crash scene last November, and wanted to help. After the cops shooed him away he returned to the scene and allegedly gathered the items.

It wasn't until later the seller realized they were Walker's.

"We photo-matched them to the ones Paul was wearing," Kieta, an acquisitions specialist at BidAMI.com who did not provide her last name, told the New York Daily News about verifying the glasses.

Since the auction began on Thursday, the site has crashed due to overwhelming traffic. Four people have bid on the auction out of the 4,000 page views the auction received before it crashed, Kieta explained. The bidding was at $1,572.

Kieta claimed that the seller who originally found the items tried to reach out to Walker's family, but received no response. "He wanted to do this for good, not anything disrespectful," she told the Daily News.

Walker, 40, and friend Roger Rodas were in a Porsche Carrera GT when they crashed in Santa Clarita, Calif., on Nov. 30 of last year.
