A massive pollen cloud captured on video by a New Jersey resident has gone viral.

The clip, captured by Jennifer Henderson of Millville, shows a plume of pollen fall to the ground from a tree tapped by a backhoe loader operated by her husband, Fox News noted.

"When my husband said the pollen's bad, I probably should've taken his word for it," Henderson said in a post to Facebook.

By Wednesday morning, the video had been viewed over 3.5 million times and received thousands of shares.

The popularity of the clip may have something to do with the severity of this year's allergy season.

"It seems with each passing season that the forecasters say this will be the worst allergy season ever. This year, they may be right," said Dr. Stacey Galowitz, an allergist from New Jersey, according to Healthline.

Various factors are influencing the severity of this year's allergy season but warmer temperatures and the U.S.'s roller-coaster spring seem to be at the crux of the matter.

"It was like three seasons in one week," said Julia Lowe Ehrhardt, program coordinator with Tyler Arboretum in Middletown Township, according to Fox29.

"Well, the plants couldn't make up their mind, so the early plants are late meaning the cool spring kind of delayed them and the late spring is early."

Ehrardt blames blooming male maple, birch and oak trees for producing severe allergies, explaining that pollen particles emanating from the trees could travel up to 400 miles a day with the help of a little wind.

Researchers estimate that pollen counts of all varieties will double by 2040 in some parts of the country, Vox said.
