Veteran pollster John Zogby believes that President Donald Trump will be hard to be beat in 2020.
"I realize that many people don't want to hear that but hiding from a noxious reality is neither healthy nor helpful," the political pundit and author wrote in an opinion piece for Forbes.
Zogby based his claim on a recent Harvard-Harris Poll which found that Trump's support was increasing among voters, giving him an upper hand for the 2020 election.
The data were made available via The Hill, which found that Trump's approval rating was at 45 percent, with the majority of Americans approving of his record on creating jobs, the economy and the fight against terrorism.
According to two separate polls conducted by Gallup, Trump's approval rating is the "best in a year."
Zogby noted that, while the figures themselves were not all that impressive, the "numbers behind the numbers are pretty suggestive."
According to the findings of the Harvard-Harris Poll, Trump is holding down his base of votes.
Furthermore, 45 percent of those polled believe that the U.S. economy is headed in the right direction, 65 percent feel the economy is strong and 54 percent approve of the way Trump is handling the economy.
What does this all mean?
Zogby pointed out that while there is still plenty of evidence that "Trump's style, behavior, ideology, and management are impediments to attaining more popularity," on the other hand "if there is a sense that things are getting better financially for people, that there is at least a growing feeling of optimism, and that this trend can continue, then it may prove harder to make a case that the person in charge has to be defeated."
