A Powerball glitch delayed Saturday's drawing for $215 million, and after a half-hour delay, waiting players were disappointed when no one matched the winning numbers, according to USA Today.
Sam Arlen, host of the televised drawing, did not explain details about the glitch. The drawing was scheduled to take place at 10:59 p.m., Eastern time, the newspaper noted.
"Because of a technical problem tonight, we are unable to bring you the Powerball drawing at this time," Arlen said, per USA Today. "As soon as we are able to resolve the issue and conduct the drawing, it will be available for viewing on Powerball.com or our YouTube Channel, Powerball39."
But when the numbers were pulled – 14-29-36-57-61, and the Powerball 17 – no winners emerged from the delayed drawing, USA Today noted.
There has not been a Powerball winner since March 24, when a Lafayette, Louisiana, player won a $55.9 million jackpot, the second time in five months someone from the state won the Powerball, according to the game's website. That ticket, on Oct. 25, 2017, was worth $191.1 million, Powerball said.
Earlier that month, a ticket was purchased in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, worth a $456.7 million annuity value or $273.9 million cash, Powerball said.
"This is largest jackpot the Pennsylvania Lottery has ever awarded as well as our state's 18th Powerball jackpot," Pennsylvania lottery executive director Drew Svitko, said on the Powerball website then.
"It seems that St. Patrick's Day brought some great luck to this fortunate Powerball player and we are anxious to meet our big winner or winners, Svitko continued.
Powerball's next drawing will be Wednesday, barring glitches, and will be worth at least $233 million, according to its website.
Powerball is played in 44 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, USA Today said. Odds at winning the Powerball jackpot stand at about one in 292.2 million.
Powerball's rival lottery game, Mega Millions, will hold its next drawing on Tuesday with $40 million up for grabs, with a $23 million cash option.
