German prince Georg-Constantin died Saturday after falling from a horse during a race at Apethorpe Palace, Northamptonshire, England, where he was visiting a friend.
Georg-Constantin, 41, was visiting Jean Christophe Iseux, Baron von Pfetten, at the time of the accident, the Daily Mail reported.
A successor to the House of Wettin and a descendant of King George II, Georg-Constantin moved to London and married Olivia Rachelle Page in 2015. He founded renewable energy firm Sustainability Factory Ltd., where his wife worked until April, according to The Sun.
"Con was a brilliant jockey, he raced at Cheltenham and wherever he went he rode," friend Alexander Fiske-Harrison said, according to the Daily Mail. "On Saturday he and Jean Christophe went for a ride. He was wearing a helmet and was riding in the grounds."
Police said the incident appeared to be a "tragic accident," according to USA Today.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene of Saturday's accident at about 8:30 p.m., and Georg-Constantin was later pronounced dead.
The House of Wettin is one of Germany's oldest documented noble families, tracing back over 1,000 years, USA Today said. Georg-Constantin was the designated successor of the House of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach branch of the family.
