With Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding set to take place at Windsor Castle’s St. George’s Chapel in May 2018, the question on everyone’s lips was who will the best man – until Harry has asked his brother to perform the duty.
“Harry has several close guy friends, but there’s no way he would ask anyone but William to take on the top job,” the source told Us Weekly
Another source told the gossip magazine that William and Kate Middleton’s children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, would also feature in the upcoming wedding.
Nothing royal is simple, and a British and European royalty expert has dismissed the news of William being Harry’s best man, telling Town and Country that a royal wedding traditionally does not feature a best man.
"The best man or best men are officially called supporters," she said. "William will probably be Harry's supporter."
When Prince Charles married Princess Diana in 1981, he asked his two brothers, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, to be his "supporters,” E! Online noted.
However, William chose to break the tradition when he married Middleton in 2011 and asked Harry to be his best man – so perhaps the younger brother wants to once again break the royal tradition.
News of Harry and Markle’s engagement was received by a delighted older brother, who said he was excited and delighted for the couple.
