Prince William and Duchess Kate were met by cheering fans and large crowds as the royal couple arrived in New York City on Sunday to begin a three-day U.S. tour.
The couple traveled with an entourage of seven, according to the
New York Post, including former ambassador United States David Manning and the Duchess's hairdresser Amanda Cook Tucker. The Post said their motorcade also included an ambulance because Duchess is five months pregnant.
There was plenty of chatter on Twitter and other social media about the royal couple's first visit to New York City.
Prince William then traveled to Washington to meet on Monday with President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden at the White House to advance his campaign for wildlife conservation. He was then scheduled to attend the World Bank for a conference and to give a speech on banning illegal wildlife trade,
reported USA Today.
Kate remained in New York City to visit a child development center with Mayor Bill DiBlasio's wife, Chirlane McCray, and to attend a lunch for British achievers in the city.
William and Kate were both expected to be sitting courtside at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for the second half as LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night.
