Princess Charlotte is off to school next year and will be attending Willcocks Nursery School come January, People magazine noted.
The school is located close to Kensington Palace so the 2-year-old will be close to home, which will hopefully soften those first day school blues that Prince William and Kate Middleton, now expecting their third baby, may feel.
The princess and her parents will first attend a short 'stay and play,' during which Kate and William will then leave Charlotte behind so that it can be established whether she is happy being alone, the Daily Mail said.
The $12,000-a-year school said in a statement that it was "delighted that The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen the Willcocks Nursery School for Princess Charlotte," and that "we look forward to welcoming Charlotte to our nursery in January," Hello magazine reported.
Willcocks Nursery School, which was founded in 1964 by Miss Diana Willcocks, accommodates 32 children between the ages of 2 and 5, according to the school's website.
The school is owned and run by Headmistress Lavinia Taylor and describes itself as "a traditional nursery school which strives to maintain its ethos for high standards, excellence and good manners."
The choice to send Charlotte off to Willcocks Nursery School comes as a surprise as many expected William and Kate to send her to Thomas's Battersea, where her 4-year-old brother, George, attends, People noted.
However, a source told the gossip outlet that the royal company chose Willcocks Nursery School because "they thought it would be an ideal first step for Charlotte's education and they were impressed by the team who work there."
