A private, candid photo of the late Princess Diana in a bikini has been posted on Instagram by Valentino's Fashion House partner Giancarlo Giammetti in memory of her. He was one of the last people to see her alive.
The rare photograph of the princess appeared unexpectedly on the Giammetti's Instagram account and has generated more than 2,700 likes and numerous comments.
"This flashback photo of Princess Diana from 1990 is awesome,"
wrote Brett Malec, of E! News. "In the vintage shot, Diana flashes some skin in a two-piece bikini with a purple shirt over it and big sunglasses while standing on a yacht next to a boy who looks like he could be a young Prince William. Will, if it is indeed him, would have been six years old at the time; the boy flashes a giant smile while in colorful swim trunks."

Some speculated that the photo was taken on board the T.M. Blue One yacht, which Giammetti owned in 1990.
The Daily Mail believed the picture was actually taken on Dodi Al Fayed's Jonikal yacht, which was anchored next to the T.M. Blue One.
Giammetti also hastagged Rosario Saxe-Coburg — wife to Kyril, Bulgaria's Prince of Preslav — who also is shown in the picture,
according to Vanity Fair.
"It's near impossible to take your eyes off this image, no?" wrote Josh Duboff, of Vanity Fair. "While we would look like a sweaty, pale mess on the deck of this boat in the middle of the water, Diana looks like she has stepped out of a Vogue editorial, cool as ever. And that purple button-down tied almost dramatically above her waist has us planning a quick stop at the Gap en route to the airport later today."
The Daily Mail reported that Giammetti was one of the last people to see Princess Diana alive on Aug. 31, 1997, just hours before she died in a violent car crash.
"The doe-eyed former princess was known to frequent the luxury yachts of her rich and famous friends, partly because they offered her relative freedom from the prying eyes of the paparazzi, who hounded her relentlessly for most of her adult life," wrote Annabel Fenwick Elliott, of the Daily Mail.
