PlayStation 4 is earning rave reviews not only from hardcore gamers, but from reviewers who say the latest version of the popular console may the best one yet. Its graphics edge over Xbox One is one reason.
Ben Gilbert, of
Engadget.com, gave PS4 an endorsement despite the console's $400 price tag.

"After a marathon week with the PlayStation 4, we feel confident in saying it will be worth your hard-earned money when it goes on sale tomorrow," Gilbert wrote. "For $400, you're getting a speedy, powerful little PC with an extremely friendly user interface – and it doesn't look like a PC, which is a nice bonus. We may not review game consoles every day, but we know a good one when we see it. This is just the beginning with PlayStation 4, and it's a hell of a start."
ABC News' Joanne Stern said PS4 has an edge over Xbox One in terms of graphics. The graphics' superiority is clear on games like "Killzone" and "Call of Duty." The PS4's eight-core processor makes the game faster and it has been completely redesigned.
"Sony also has a new DualShock controller with a touchpad for swiping and better built-in speakers to enhance the game play," Stern wrote. "Sony also sells the $60 PlayStation Camera, which adds augmented reality features to some games. . . . Beyond the games, PlayStation offers new social gaming features and Internet streaming services, like Netflix, Amazon and Hulu Plus."
Sony is hoping to capitalize on PS4's popularity by offering for Christmas with the PlayStation handheld device
PS Vita, which Alex Wynick of The Mirror calls the "ultimate bundle."
"One of the biggest new functions of the PS4 is the fact that it can be streamed to the PS Vita, meaning gamers can take their PS4 games with them on the go," Wynick wrote. "This bundle will allow gamers to utilize the new feature, even if they do not own a PS Vita."
"We’re really excited for Vita as we move into Christmas," Sony's senior product manager Ben Law said. "We've got a great campaign with key messaging around new releases like Tearaway, the ever-growing game catalogue and the Remote Play service."
