A popular Florida pub was forced to remove the Irish flag after officials said it’s against the law to fly anything other than an American flag.
The owners of Culhane’s Irish Pub in Atlantic Beach received a citation for flying Ireland’s white, orange and green flag outside their bar in recognition of St. Patrick’s Day which is Sunday, March 17.
“[I’m] shocked. This is America, the land of every nationality,’’ Michelle Culhane — who owns the watering hole with her sisters Lynda, Mary Jane and Aine — told First Coast News.

“I couldn't believe they made us take down our Irish flag."
But city officials told them the municipal code prohibits any flag, with the exception of Old Glory, outside a commercial businesses.
An amendment to change the law is in the works, but won’t be enacted until after St. Patrick’s Day.

That means the pub will have to wait until next year to fly the Irish flag legally.
