Writer and director Quentin Tarantino is developing a new film based on the murder of actress Sharon Tate by Charles Manson and his followers in Hollywood in 1969.

Tarantino is finishing up the script for the movie and has already approached Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lawrence to star, as well as “Suicide Squad” actor Margot Robbie to play Sharon Tate, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The murders of Tate and four other occupants of the home she shared with her husband, director Roman Polanski, shocked Hollywood and led to Manson and some of his followers being given life sentences in prison. Manson is still alive and in prison for these and other murders committed that summer.

Tate was eight months pregnant when she was brutally killed with guns and knives by four of Manson’s followers on his orders.

If the movie is made, it will be Tarantino’s first movie based on actual events. Tarantino has made movies in various genres, including “Kill Bill,” “Pulp Fiction,” and “Inglourious Basterds.”

Recent movies by Tarantino include “The Hateful Eight” (2015), “She’s Funny That Way” (2014), and “Django Unchained” (2012).

He also is known for creating strong, memorable female characters, and it appears Sharon Tate could be next on his list.

Some on Twitter found the idea of a Tarantino movie about Manson fascinating, while others couldn’t have been less interested.
