Raven Symone Picks Winners

By    |   Friday, 13 February 2015 07:48 AM EST

Actress Raven Symone is everywhere all of the sudden, appearing in Fox's hit show "Empire" this week and announcing she will be guest appearing on the Disney Channel's surging "K.C. Undercover."

Symone appeared on "Empire" this week in the plot-twisting role of Olivia, a former backup singer and the alleged mother of a child fathered by Jamal Lyon, wrote E! News.

For the uninitiated, Jamal Lyon is the son of Lucious Lyon, played by Terrence Howard, the head of Empire Records, who is trying to decide who to turn over the family business to. Jamal is gay and has a boyfriend. Yes, it's complicated.

"There's a lot of stuff going on – we definitely have a very odd history together," Symone told Vulture.com. "She was a part of his life for a few years for – how do I say this? – contractual and covering-up reasons. I don't really know how much I want to tell you because her story does get told in the next episode, along with more interesting details that I think only Cookie (played by Taraji P. Henson) and Jamal (portrayed by Jussie Smollett) will be able to explain better than I can."

Last week, the former "The Cosby Show" and "That's So Raven" star posted on her Facebook page that she would be guest appearing in two episodes of the new Disney Channel Show "K.C. Undercover," which has already proven to be a ratings winner.

"K.C. Undercover" stars Zendaya as a prep math star and black belt who is recruited by her spy parents to work covertly, according to Deadline.com. The series debuted in January with 3.5 million viewers as the No. 1 cable telecast among kids 2-11 (1.7 million), kids 6-11 (1.4 million) and tweens 9-14 (1.4 million).

More importantly for Disney, the show beat out Nickelodeon's "Bella and The Bulldogs" series premiere the night before by 13 percent in kids 2-11 (1.7 million vs. 1.5 million), 17 percent in kids 6-11 (1.4 million vs. 1.2 million) and 48 percent in tweens (1.4 million vs. 949,000), noted Deadline.com.
