Repeal Obamacare Bill is First of 2013, Introduced by Bachmann

By    |   Friday, 04 January 2013 08:34 AM EST

Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., was eager to announce that she introduced the first bill of the 113th session of Congress — once again, to repeal Obamacare in its entirety.

The tea party favorite and one time primary candidate in the Republican presidential race took to Twitter Thursday at 10:57 a.m. to announce that at noon that day — an hour after her announcement — she'd introduced the bill:

The bill designed to repeal Obamacare earned Bachmann an outpouring of vitriol on Twitter.

House Republicans have tried at least 33 times to repeal Obamacare, unsuccessfully. A recent poll from the Kaiser family Foundation shows that only one third of Americans oppose the healthcare mandate, a record low.

While freshman lawmakers are eager to make change in Washington, Bachmann seems eager to continue pushing her agenda, even after clinching her fourth term in congress by only 3,256 votes, winning with less than a one-percent majority of her constituents.

Bachmann's piece of legislation came just minutes after the new Congress was sworn in. The new legislative body convened on Capitol Hill at noon to take the oath of office, and shoulder burden of the heavy missteps of the last session of Congress.

Bachmann has been outspoken against Obamacare from the start.

“Again, from the very beginning it has been said that Obamacare is a crime against democracy. It has been a deception from the beginning,” she said on "Meet the Press" in 2011. “Remember, the president told us it was a mandate, not a tax — now in the federal court he’s arguing it is a tax, not a mandate. We were also told our premiums would go down $2,500 and instead they’re spiking up 20 and 40 percent. This has been a fraud.”
