Richard Gere, 65, was caught getting cozy with his 32-year-old girlfriend, toned Spanish socialite Alejandra Silva, off the coast of Acitrezza, Italy, on Monday.
The Golden Globe-winning actor and his girlfriend made their first public appearance at Italy's
Taormina Film Festival on Wednesday, according to the Daily Mail, which posted exclusive pictures of the couple on a yacht.
"Alejandra looked sensational in a tiny purple bikini which showed off her incredible figure as the pair cozied up together on the vessel before frolicking in the sea off the coast of Sicily," the U.K. newspaper reported. "It's not surprising Gere couldn't keep his hands off the blonde beauty, who displayed her toned and tanned body in her daring two-piece."
Us Weekly magazine reported last October that Gere had broken up with Padma Lakshmi, the host of "Top Chef," after six months of dating. Before that relationship, he and his wife of 11 years Carey Lowell got divorced.
"It started very recently and quietly. It's very new," a source told Us Weekly of Gere and Lakshmi's relationship at the time. "I wouldn't even go as far as calling them a couple. They are dating. It's the first time Padma has dated anyone since Teddy (Forstmann, who died in 2011), and it's something she's been approaching very, very delicately."
The Daily Mail reported last week that Gere was given an award at the film festival for his entertainment career that has spanned more than 40 years. He also taught a signature acting class during the festival.
"Other big names at the Taormina Film Fest include Ellen Pompeo, Rupert Everett, and Patricia Arquette, who recently won an Oscar for her role in 'Boyhood,'" the Daily Mail noted.
Gere was escorted to the awards by Tiziana Rocca, the producer of the Taormina Film Festival. Rocca, a public relations specialist, took over the producer role of the
festival in 2012, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
