Singer Rihanna said in new court filings that her former accountants left her on the verge of bankruptcy in 2009, leaving her with $2 million at the end of that year with expenses that doubled that amount.

TMZ reported that the filing was part of an ongoing dispute with the accounting firm Berdon LLP, who the star claimed in 2012 mismanaged her money and failed to inform her that her 2009 Last Girl on Earth tour was losing money.

Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, said that bulk of her loss in 2009, which reduced her funds from $11 million to $2 million, came from the purchase of a $7.5 million home that her accountants approved. The Grammy winner also lost $2 million when she sold the home.

In the original 2012 filing, Rihanna claimed that the accounting firm took 22 percent commission from her earnings, which was well above the standard rate.

Berdon responded, claiming that the singer was at fault for her financial woes and pushed back against claims of poor accounting and mismanagement. The firm said that Rihanna signed off on decisions, including its commission, stated the.

The Barbados-born singer is now worth upwards of $43 million, according to TMZ.com. She provided the vocals to rapper Eminem's former No. 1 single this year "The Monster."

The song was the 13th No. 1 hit of her career and put her in third place for the most weeks on the Billboard chart at No. 1 in the survey's history.

Rihanna won a Grammy earlier this year for best urban contemporary album for "Unapologetic."

She has also branched into acting, with a supporting role in the 2012 movie "Battleship" and the 2013 movie  "This is the End." Rihanna is also drawing endorsement paychecks from the likes of CoverGirl, Gucci, and Clinique.
