In his first post-rehab interviews, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford said he used "every drug" but heroin and that he abused alcohol while sitting in the mayor's office.
Ford blamed the substance abuse for his bizarre behavior while in office, including showing up in various video recordings using drugs along with making homophobic, sexist and racist comments,
according to CBC News.
"I think that goes along with having this disease," said Ford. "(When using drugs), you do things, you say things that just aren't you. I take full responsibility.… All I can do is apologize and deal with this disease. This is an everyday battle that I'm going to have to deal with for the rest of my life. This is the beginning of a long, long journey."

When interviewer Dwight Drummond asked if he used "marijuana, heroin, crack, alcohol — the gamut," Ford responded "You name it, I pretty well covered it."
CBC News reported that Ford denied using heroin, though, in a later interview.
Police documents released in December detailing wiretaps included a conversation in which an alleged gang member said he had photos of Ford "doing the hezza," a slang term for heroin.
Concerning his homophobic, sexist and racial slurs, Dr. Jane Storrie, president of the Ontario Psychological Association, told CBC News that saying them under the influence was not the real issue.
"Some researchers and clinicians think taking substances loosens the lips, and so you end up saying how you’re really feeling," Storrie told CBC. "But others believe substances can make you say things you don’t mean. A larger issue is whether being under the influence absolves someone of responsibility for their words and actions."
Ford announced in late April that he would enter rehab after a video surfaced that apparently showed him smoking crack cocaine,
according to The Associated Press. The video was part of a string of disturbing drug allegations against the mayor who admitted that he smoking crack in a "drunken stupor."
Last year, the Toronto City Council stripped Ford of most of his powers because of his behavior, noted the AP.
